Party Room C, The Crossings Intercontinual Worldgating Facility, Tuesday Evening [Fandom Time]

It had taken a little bit of work, but with one of his best friends being responsible for the Crossings, Ronan had managed to not only reserve a room, but also to arrange transportation to the Crossings for all of his friends who wanted to come by -- without needing to negotiate Portalocity.

(It had cost him a pretty penny, but it wasn't like he was spending his money on much of anything else lately; even when not on errantry, wizards were popular through-out most of the universe.)

So, here Ronan was, waiting for people to show up as he arranged the last few nibbly foods on one of the side tables. It wasn't every day that a guy turned twenty, after all.


[So I completely flaked and forgot to email invites out to everyone. Oops? If you think you'd have gotten one, you probably got one; Ronan sent them out to pretty much everyone he's ever known at Fandom High.

[Up early for timezones and SP and suchlike.]

"No dancing?" Ronan pouted, mostly mockingly. "Well, there goes that idea... I suppose I'll just have to hope your gift isn't actually a cardigan, then."

"It's not a cardigan," he assured him with a grin. "Come on, I have better taste than that. Cardigans are for old men and cat ladies."

"And I, thankfully, am neither of those," Ronan agreed. "So -- no dancing, no... making it up to me. I'll just have to hope you have a good time tonight, then."

For certain definitions of 'night', since technically it was about mid-afternoon Crossings time. But who was counting?

Ronan leaned in conspiratorially. "The really fizzy drink in the purple pitchers? Not alcohol, but the best damn euphoria-in-a-glass I've had. It's from a planet called Sunrise -- at least, that's what people who speak like we do call it, it's real name is unpronounceable for human-like vocal cords."

"Sunrise?" Hannibal asked, sounding interested. "Not alcohol so no hangover?"

"Yup," Ronan said. "It's not, like, any kind of crazy high or anything? It's actually pretty gentle, but it's good. And it lets you down gently, too, so you don't have a crash at the end.

He shrugged. "Most planets out there aren't really big into 'poisoning their bodies', as they put it, so if they have any kind of recreational substances, they tend not to have any long-term effects. Although I still refuse to give up my Guinness."
