The menu finally planned, the guests on their way -- or already arrived, and dinner already cooking, Ronan felt prepared for dinner.

The smells -- and sounds -- coming out of his kitchen were probably enough to make his guests mouth water, but that was, really, par for the course when it came to Ronan. And no, you weren't allowed into the kitchen to help.

Fortunately it didn't take Isabel all that much time to get dessert ready thanks to some creative use of the alien-fu.

There were small cups of spicy Mexican hot chocolate (http://allwomenstalk.com/10-ingredients-and-directions-of-mexican-hot-chocolate-shots-with-spicy-foam-receipt/) to drink. For nibbling there was a decadent pot of melted chocolate (http://img4.myrecipes.com/i/recipes/sl/05/11/chocolate-sl-1120220-l.jpg) with an assortment of completely moddable sweet and savory bites for dipping.

"I was going to make some elaborate chocolate creation. But sometimes I think simpler is better."

Ronan grinned across the table. "Somehow I think we'll survive with this," he said, grabbing a strawberry half and dipping it in. "I swear, you probably could have laid a slab of chocolate in front of me and I'd be happy with it."

"The dark bacon ones are worth..." Ronan paused to do some mental calculations. "About eighty-three thousand, give or take, depending on the planet you're on and the state of the black market, back in my universe. I mean, not on Earth, obviously, but. Mind you, that's only on planets where chocolate's a controlled substance."

"We'll have to set you up when you come visit me in Vegas," Isabel offered. "You can take it out to the universe and trade. Get yourself a nice start on your retirement fund."

Ronan snorted. "Yeah, I'll skip the 'getting arrested for selling chocolate' thing, thanks," he retorted. "I'm still not certain that Carmela's not behind the recent influx."

"Are you trying to make me a delinquent?" Ronan asked, amused. "Maybe I should have you start selling chocolate. Probably harder to trace when you're not from my universe."
