The shield he'd thrown up functioned more like a wall of solid force, causing the color to splatter all over it; for a minute, the blue, nearly translucent wall of dark energy went violently purple, green, and orange.
And then Kaidan shoved it forward. He had no idea if what Ronan had thrown at him was solid, but whatever it was-- it was going right back where it came from.
