Party Room C, The Crossings Intercontinual Worldgating Facility, Tuesday Evening [Fandom Time]

It had taken a little bit of work, but with one of his best friends being responsible for the Crossings, Ronan had managed to not only reserve a room, but also to arrange transportation to the Crossings for all of his friends who wanted to come by -- without needing to negotiate Portalocity.

(It had cost him a pretty penny, but it wasn't like he was spending his money on much of anything else lately; even when not on errantry, wizards were popular through-out most of the universe.)

So, here Ronan was, waiting for people to show up as he arranged the last few nibbly foods on one of the side tables. It wasn't every day that a guy turned twenty, after all.


[So I completely flaked and forgot to email invites out to everyone. Oops? If you think you'd have gotten one, you probably got one; Ronan sent them out to pretty much everyone he's ever known at Fandom High.

Ronan laughed. "Hannibal threatened me with a cardigan," he said. "Fate worse than death.

"Growing old's not actually so bad, though," Ronan mused. "I mean, it is better than some of the alternatives..."

"Yeah," Isabel said softly. "Been there, done that. Don't want to do it again anytime soon." It was great to have Peter back safe and sound. But sometimes they didn't get that lucky. Like Alex. It was hard to believe it had been four years this month.

Ronan reached out a hand to Isabel's shoulder -- a point of contact, an assurance. 'I'm still here.'

"Hey, no sad faces," he said, smiling softly. "I'm not going anywhere. And neither are you. And if any of our friends get any ideas, we'll just have to go in and rescue them, right?"

Forget point of contact, Isabel leaned in for one armed hug. "You are. And you'd better stay here. I'll kick your ass otherwise."

She smiled, pushing any sad thoughts aside. "I'm sorry. It's March. It always makes me a little on the mopey side."

One-armed hug? Pfft. Two-armed it was.

"March is a tough month," Ronan agreed since as best I can remember, it was March when Ronan almost died. "But we're still here. Maybe not everyone is, but... They're still with us."

"March sucks dead toads," Isabel said, hugging Ronan tightly. "But yeah, right now, all is good. So I'm not going to complain. I'm just going to enjoy the fact that I'm here and not in class right now."

"Can you believe I actually kinda miss going to school?" Ronan asked. "I'm even looking at applying to this one university that takes off-world students. Gorgeous planet, though."

"You miss being social. And cooking in the common rooms," she replied with a grin.

"And I kinda miss classes, too," Ronan admitted. "Although to be fair, the classes at Fandom were never normal."

"This is true. It was culture shock when I got to college," Isabel sighed. "Lectures were boring and there was this thing called homework. It's horrible."

"Yet another reason I'd rather go to school off-world," Ronan said, shaking his head. "I mean, even if the lectures are boring and the homework is hard? I'll be on another planet. For school."

"Point. Although now you're setting the bar pretty high," she pointed out. "Where are you going to go for Spring Break that'll top that?"

Ronan just smirked. "One of the resort worlds, of course," he said. "I'm pretty sure there's a few I haven't visited yet."
