Room 507, Friday Morning

Not long after waking up, Ronan was at his computer and checking his email. No music this time; it was still a bit early to be subjecting the floor to his eclectic tastes.

Oh, look, an email from Nita.

Ronan! Good to hear from you, and, yes, I got your email in 2006, so that's working properly.

I'm actually not in the middle of anything right now. Kit's taken the lead on the Mars project, and while I'm still technically working on it, I've got some free time. Do you want to come over on Saturday? I'll be free all day, but Dairine's going to be off on assignment and Dad'll be at work, so we'll have plenty of time to talk. And you can stay for dinner, if you'd like.

Hit me back with when you think you'll be here, and I'll make sure I'm around.

Oh, and I'm not looking for anything special, music-wise. Surprise me.

Ronan dashed off a quick note back, saying he'd be there late morning, and started making plans as to what he'd pick up for Nita.

"Beer's not so bad," Ronan said. "As long as you're drinking decent stuff and can handle it." The implication, of course, that Ronan could. "And no worries, I just used your bed." He shrugged. "They're just beds."

John got the implication and vaguely remembered that his goal last night had been to end up this way. Naturally, the idea was better in theory than in practice.

"Yeah, I was trying to forget some stuff, and it just might have worked. Though, it may have taken my sense of direction with it," he quipped.

Ronan raised his eyebrow. "Apparently. Seriously, want me to fix the hangover for you? It's a simple healing spell."

John was so greatful, "That would be great if you wouldn't mind. I have Flight and Flying 2nd period and Skywalker'd eat me alive if I crashed because of a hangover."

Ronan nodded and walked over to the bed, where he laid one hand across John's brow. He whispered in the Speech, going on perhaps a bit longer than he thought he'd have to; after he finished and pulled away his hand, he walked over and poured a glass of water from a pitcher he had on his dresser. "Here," he said. "Drink this and you should be fine. And be sure to keep hydrated today."

John accepted the water, "Thanks. I feel...better than ever! I tell you, I've gotta take a class and learn some of this magic, er, wizardry. It's so incredibly useful."

Ronan shrugged. "I don't know about others, but you can't just learn mine. It has to be offered to you."

"Well, I guess I'm outta luck unless there's a door-to-door special power salesman wandering around Fandom somewhere," he grinned.

"... Given Fandom, I wouldn't be surprised were that to actually happen. Just make sure you read the fine print."

John chuckled, "Yeah, I'm not about to sell my hair for power, let alone my soul."

He reached for the phone and checked his messages. "Damn! Well my weekend's suddenly free," he muttered aloud, replacing the handset.

"Oh?" Ronan said. "I probably won't be around Saturday, during the daytime at least, but if you want to hang out I'll be around otherwise."

"I was supposed to hang out with Molly tonight, but she had to cancel. Where you going on Saturday?" he asked.

"Uh," Ronan mumbled. "I'm kinda... sneaking off the island for a bit to go visit a friend. In another state."

"Sneaking as in it's not an approved visit, or sneaking as in no one's supposed to know you're seeing this friend?" John asked with a grin.

"Sneaking as in, if this goes as planned, you're the only person who'll even notice that I'm gone," Ronan replied. "That's all."

John got himself a power bar from his stash under the bed. "Want one? My lips are sealed. Of course, there's a strong possibility I'll be stuck in detention all day on Saturday," he bit a chunk off the bar and continued talking. "I hope our doorknob doesn't get lonely and revolt before I get back here."

Ronan nodded. "Sure," he said, and held out his hand to catch a bar were John to toss one. "And we shouldn't have any problems with the doorknob. If nothing else, I can talk to it. Why, anyway? Have there been problems with doorknobs getting lonely?"

John tossed Ronan a bar, "Uh, yeah. You really oughta listen to the announcements or the radio more often, they let you know about random doorknob issues and whether your butt is sitting in random detention or not." No, John wasn't bitter that he'd had random detention last week and was now awaiting a new punishment for something he actually did.

Ronan blinked. "Oh! Right. I remember hearing about that now. Ours didn't give me any trouble, so I kinda forgot about it. I think it likes me." He grinned.

"So, at any rate, want to head to Caritas or something? Tomorrow, after you get out of detention and I get back from... where I'm going, I mean." He shrugged. "Could be fun, y'know."

John remembered the last time they went to Caritas together. Regardless, he said, "Yeah, let's do it!"

Okay, Ronan may have been thinking about that as well, but he didn't plan to get drunk, nor did he think they'd get glitterbombed again. So it was safe. "Sounds good," Ronan said. "I may be staying at Nita's for dinner, but I can't imagine I'll be too late getting back."
