Party Room C, The Crossings Intercontinual Worldgating Facility, Tuesday Evening [Fandom Time]

It had taken a little bit of work, but with one of his best friends being responsible for the Crossings, Ronan had managed to not only reserve a room, but also to arrange transportation to the Crossings for all of his friends who wanted to come by -- without needing to negotiate Portalocity.

(It had cost him a pretty penny, but it wasn't like he was spending his money on much of anything else lately; even when not on errantry, wizards were popular through-out most of the universe.)

So, here Ronan was, waiting for people to show up as he arranged the last few nibbly foods on one of the side tables. It wasn't every day that a guy turned twenty, after all.


[So I completely flaked and forgot to email invites out to everyone. Oops? If you think you'd have gotten one, you probably got one; Ronan sent them out to pretty much everyone he's ever known at Fandom High.

[Up early for timezones and SP and suchlike.]

"I'm dead for most of it," Jack said, since that was clearly the key measuring stick. He relented quickly. "No, it's good. Sam Winchester got the lead. The girls are stunning -- you should try to see it. I'll drop a line when it opens."

Ronan had to stop and think about that.

"It's hard to say," he admitted. "There've been a couple of planets that are, like, essentially giant resorts -- most of the landmass is around the equator, so it's all tropical? Lots of parties, that kind of thing. But the planet of the catboys was hilarious. And also awesome."

"Catboys?" Jack echoed, leaning closer and raising an eyebrow. "With whiskers and tails?"

"And little pointy cat ears," Ronan said, his grin widening. "Like something out of anime. Carmela mentioned it to me ages ago -- have you ever met her? She graduated before me, but she's around here somewhere..."

Jack shook his head. "The name doesn't ring a bell," he said regretfully. "How do you keep a straight face talking to a catboy? I'd be waiting for them to hiss or purr."

Ronan shrugged. "It's not so weird," he said. "I mean, there's lots of aliens out here, most of whom don't look anything like humans. And, uh. The catboys were... aside from the cat features thing? Pretty much all incredibly gorgeous."

"Huh," Jack said, thinking about that for a moment before he put it into the general category of things he wouldn't understand from a brief conversation at a birthday party. He was happy staying on the planet he was born on, but it sounded like Ronan was having a grand time of it.

"I can't imagine it, but it must be wonderful to get to see all of it."

"It's incredible," Ronan agreed. "I mean, there's so much variation, in worlds, in life. It's nice to see what I've been fighting for. When I'm not scared out of my head fighting for it."
